STANDISH – Shawn Adams threw a no-hitter and Lee Smith followed with a one-hitter to lead St. Joseph’s College to a baseball doubleheader sweep of Eastern Nazarene College 11-1 and 12-1 here Monday.
Adams, a freshman righthander who is now 3-2, struck out nine and walked eight in the first game.
Smith, a freshman lefty, started his first game of the season and struck out four and walked two. He was reached for an RBI double in the fourth by Eric Heizer.
Rich Ela had three doubles and three RBIs for St. Joe’s in the first game and Scott Kopecky doubled twice and drove in three runs.
In the second game, John Kearney slammed a two-run homer and added a two-run double. Ron Plourde chipped in with a two-run single and Shawn Humphrey singled twice.
St. Joe’s is now 15-15 and Eastern Nazarene is 3-14.
