The University of Maine Department of Music held a Student Chamber Music Recital Competition on April 23, at Lord Hall.

The performances by undergraduate and graduate students were judged by George Sopkin of the New England Piano Quartet, a former member of the Fine Arts Quartet.

The winners were taped on April 24 for broadcast by MPBN at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 5.

Winners were: Alison Mellody, Brooks, piano; Lisa Nielson, Orono, cello; Benjamin Dane, Veazie, cello; Amy Cox, Orono, violin; Dana Goodwin, Castine, violin; Lorraine Thomas, Maplewood, N.J., viola; Luke Rakovan, Brunswick, cello; James Felberg, Albuquerque, N.M., cello; Bil Weidner, Old Town, cello; Monica Mugan, Orono, guitar; Pamela Goldsmith, Arlington, Mass., guitar; Benjamin Moore, Stowe, Vt., guitar; Bonny Cox, Sherman Mills, piano; Jolene Deringer Jones, Old Town, flute; and Ann Miller, Brewer, violin.
