County has latest technology

I never believed I would ever find reason to write a letter to the editor, but after reading the letter titled, “New mecical procedure” (Readers Write, May 1), I just can’t help myself. My family has had a history of gallstone problems starting with my sister, father and mother, who were all completely disabled for at least two to three weeks.

Last week was my turn to have my gall bladder removed. Dr. Cesar Siruno of Caribou told me I was a prime candidate for laparoscopic surgery. I jumped at the chance because he said I would be jogging after three days.

Within 18 hours after surgery I was released to go home although I didn’t think I was ready. Today, four days later, I was out in the firewood pile helping out the guys. Maybe I wasn’t able to put as much in my job as they were, but I did pile some wood and even swung the mawl a few times.

Yes, we do have some of the latest technology even up here in northern Aroostook County. Thanks to Dr. Siruno, Cary Medical Center and their most caring and unselfish nursing staff. Don Paradis Portage
