Llamas to be topic of Machias session

MACHIAS — “Living With Llamas,” a personal story of how the camel-like animals are raised by a Machias family, will highlight the Machias Adult and Community Education session from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Machias Memorial High School.

The educational session, sponsored by MACE, will be presented by Jane Heart, Belden Morse and their four-legged friends. The public is invited to meet two llamas and their human companions from the Steeplebush Farm in Machias. Interaction between the animals and the Morse family will be shown by videotape recordings, written materials and hands-on presentations.

The MACE session will be part of its “Night on the Town” series of informational workshops.

Registration will remain open until the workshop starts. The fees is $2 for residents of Machias and $3 for non-residents. People may register by mail or in person at the Adult Education office at Machias Memorial High School.

Those registering by mail should send their name, address, and phone number to Machias Adult and Community Education, School Union 102, Lower Main Street, Machias 04654.

Individuals registering in person should first call 255-4917 to be sure the office is open, or come in between 6 and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday evenings.
