Warriors edge Broncos

HAMPDEN – Brad Ronco singled in John Seavey with two outs in the top of the seventh to give the Nokomis Warriors a 10-9 schoolboy baseball victory over the Hampden Academy Broncos Tuesday.

Eric Allen hit a 2-run home run and singled for the 2-10 Warriors of Newport and Reg Briggs drove in 2 runs.

For Hampden, 5-8, Darren Dyer singled twice and knocked in 5 runs and Jason Dyer doubled in a run. Jason Sharpe added a single and 2 RBI and Ryan Harris had an RBI double.

John Bapst 10, Hermon 3

At Husson College in Bangor, Bob Shannon singled twice and drove in 2 RBIs to lead the host John Bapst Crusaders to the win.

For the 5-8 Crusaders, Maurice Day hit a double and a single. Alex Peters singled twice. Andy Jagels scattered 8 hits and improved his record to 2-0.

Harold Russell doubled, singled and had an RBI for 4-9 Hermon. Roy Perry singled twice.

At Camden, Shawn Hickey drilled a 2-run homer in the fourth inning and also doubled to lead the Camden-Rockport Windjammers to the victory over Mount View of Thorndike.

For the 8-6 Windjammers, Luke Dorr drove in the winning run in the sixth with a single. Dorr had 2 singles.

Wally Furrow hit a double and a single for 2-9-1 Mount View. Bill Bolio hit a double.

At Mount Desert, Shane Carter’s 3-run double in the bottom of the first inning set the stage for the Trojans’ 10th win in 13 games this season.

Travis Stanley added two singles and an RBI for MDI while Stephen Smith had a single, double, and RBI. Winning pitcher Jeremy Bryer gave up only 3 hits and struck out 7 but was hurt by 6 walks.

For 7-5 George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill, Jonas Allen had an RBI single.

At East Sullivan, the Tigers rallied for three runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Knights of Harrington.

Senior T.J. Schaefer drove in two runs with a bases-loaded double. The winning run then came across on Garth Hudson’s suicide squeeze.

Righthander Bobby Bridges, now 4-2, earned the win for the 7-6 Tigers by scattering nine hits while striking out four and walking only one. Bridges aided his own cause with two singles and Wally Coombs contributed two singles and an RBI. Schaefer chipped in with another double and single.

Brad Marston singled twice and drove in a run for the 8-5 Knights. Mark Leighton and Brian Marston each added a double with Marston driving in a run.

Greenville 22, Valley 12

At Bingham, Jason Simpson’s triple, 2 singles, and 2 RBIs spearheaded an 18-hit attack as the Lakers cruised past the host Cavaliers in a contest which featured a combined 34 runs and 32 hits.

For Greenville, 4-8, Matt Murray had a double, 2 singles, and an RBI; Travis Carpenter had a double and a single; Scott Saucier plated 2 runs with 2 singles; Billy Chandler had a bases-loaded triple; Travis Morrell had a triple, single, and RBI; and Brian Morrill had 2 singles.

Valley, now 1-11, got 2 singles and 4 RBIs from Steve Davis and Basil Messer added 3 singles.
