Witches, Vikings split pair

CARIBOU – Tammy McLaughlin cranked a grand slam and a three-run home run to highlight a 15-run seventh inning in the second game as the Witches rallied for a 17-11 victory and salvaged a split of their Class A softball doubleheader with Caribou here Saturday.

Caribou won the opener 16-8.

Brewer pounded out 20 hits, including four singles by Lisa Cyr and three by Kristen McPheters. Cathy Dumont and Michelle Thomas added two singles each and Kristin Card hit a solo homer.

Shelly Richardson socked a three-run homer for Caribou and added two singles. Holly Thibodeau had three singles, Debbie Vincent, Katie Gahagan, Tina Guillemette, Jessica Martin, and Tammy Thibodeau two apiece. Nicole Kelley added a solo shot.

In the first game, Richardson hit a grand slam and added a single to spark an 18-hit attack while leading Caribou to victory.

Vincent singled three times to complement Richardson’s output for the 4-10 Vikings. Gahagan, Holly Thibodeau, Tammy Thibodeau, Kelley and Terry Habeeb had two singles apiece.

Emily Burrill had three singles for 4-11 Brewer and McLaughlin added a two-run single.

Searsport 10, Shead 6

At Searsport, Jen Russ singled, doubled, tripled and knocked in three runs as the Vikings defeated the Tigers.

Amy Bagley added two triples and Mariko Haskell singled twice for 9-7 Searsport behind Russ, who fired a five-hitter.

For 8-7 Shead, Kendra MacDonald singled twice and knocked in two runs.
