PALERMO — Dorothy Levine Alfond has been named an honorary member of the Holocaust Human Rights Center of Maine board of directors.

The center fosters educational programs about the Nazi Holocaust and human rights issues.

She was born and raised in Waterville and was graduated from Coburn Classical Institute and Leslie College in Cambridge, Mass., and attended Colby College.

Alfond has been an active volunteer in area schools and the Mid-Maine Medical Center, and is active in many organizations.
