BRUNSWICK — Alfred DePew will teach his popular journal-keeping workshop from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 15 at the Maine Writers Center, 19 Mason St. in Brunswick.
This workshop is for those interested in starting a journal and those who already keep one but would like to step beyond self-imposed limits. The class will discuss techniques including problem-solving, free writing, imaging and the inclusion of dialogue.
DePew is a writer who has taught at the University of Vermont, the University of New Hampshire, the University of Southern Maine and the Portland School of Art. He has been a theater press agent, a book seller, social worker, tour guide, advertising copywriter, union organizer and model. He has kept a journal since 1970 and has taught many workshops on the subject.
Sponsored by the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance, with help from the Maine Arts Commission, the workshop costs $30 for MWPA members and $35 for others.
