BLUE HILL — Blue Hill Memorial Hospital has announced that Marie L. Barney, R.N., has accepted the position of director of nursing effective June 10.

Barney, an assistant director of nursing at Burbank Hospital in Fitchburg, Mass., will serve as senior executive responsible for the nursing division, one of four operating divisions at the 26-bed acute care facility.

Barney was selected for the position following a seven-month search which began in the fall of 1990 when Jane Smith retired from the director’s position after a 30-year career at Blue Hill Memorial.
