VAN BUREN — Julie LaPointe of Van Buren has earned a doctor of optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry. She was among 97 graduates to receive degrees at the 97th annual graduation ceremony at John Hancock Hall, Boston.

LaPointe was a member of the American Optometric Association, the contact lens section and multidisciplinary practice section.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rivier College in Nashua, N.H.

The New England College of Optometry is the oldest continuously operating school of optometry in the United States, offering a four-year graduate professional program leading to the doctoral degree.
