CHERRYFIELD — In a national contest sponsored by The Inn Times, a business newspaper for inn lovers, Ricker House in Cherryfield was chosen among the top two bed and breakfast inns in Maine and among the top 50 in the nation.
According to Bill and Jean Conway, owners of Ricker House, the favored inns were not selected by a panel of judges or experts. They were not chosen because of the type of inn they were. “Instead, they were chosen by their former guests based on an objective questionnaire,” the Conways said.
Ricker house has been in operation for five years, and it is listed on the National Register of Historical Places among 50 other buildings in the Cherryfield Historical District, “although the home was not on the register when guests were at home last year,” they said.
Owners of other B&B houses in the Down East area, who are interested in entering the 1992 Top 50 Inns Contest, should call the Conways at 546-2780 for information.
