We have justed visited with our aunts, Katharine and Olive Conley, in Ellsworth. They were very upset that the state wants to build a regional landfill on their property. We feel the same way.
This home and property has been in our family for more than 150 years. Many generations have made this their home. There is even an old family cemetery on this property.
Our family is close-knit and we have many family gatherings at this home. Our out-of-state relatives come back here to spend their vacations.
We feel the same about our family home as President Bush does about his. He says his home is worth infinity to him because it has been in his family since 1903. The Ellsworth home has been in our family much longer. We are very much against the state spoiling our family home with an ash landfill. The water supply, as well, would undoubtedly be ruined and the air these people would have to breathe would cause illness.
The noise of big trucks going in and out would certainly spoil the restful and peaceful atmosphere of being able to sit on the porch on a sunny afternoon.
We ask you, please don’t ruin a family home that has been passed from generation to generation. There must be some other spot that will do that is not someone’s home. Ted and Florence Conley Bangor
