JONESPORT — Carmen Beal, a junior at Jonesport-Beals High School, received the Xerox Award in Humanities and Sciences at the class night awards ceremony, held Monday, June 10. Class Night awards ceremony at J-BHS.
Xerox award winners are selected on the basis of scholarship in the humanities and sciences, leadership and community services. According to David T. Kearns, chairman of Xerox, the award is intended to reward outstanding students for their academic achievements and to emphasize the importance of a broad educational background necessary for students to be prepared for future careers. The award is available at high schools in all 50 states.
Beal, the daughter of Ray and Eleanor Beal of Jonesport, will be eligible to apply for a Xerox Scholar program at the University of Rochester, N.Y.
