ROCKPORT — The Penobscot Bay Medical Center Auxiliary has awarded a total of $7,500 in scholarships and grants to employees of PBMC and to graduating seniors of area high schools who are pursuing studies in nursing or other careers in the health field. The funds came from the auxiliary and from gifts given to them in memory of Helen Oliver, John Taylor, Dorothy and Frederic Bird and Lewis Conover.

The following students, from Medomak Valley, Georges Valley, Rockland District, and Camden-Rockport high schools, were given $500 scholarships: Rebecca C.M. Prescott, Julie Lynn Jacobs, Alelia Mary Wotton, Katie Melissa McMahon, Michelle Hoffman, Michelle Brown, Michael E. Roy and Anthony M. Lee.

Seven grants of from $300 to $600 were given to the following employees of PBMC: Suzanne Keene, Jill Morton, Nancy Hanrahan, Vicki Harriman, Patricia McAuliffe, Joanne Jacobs and Sherry McCormick.
