The District 3 Senior Little League All-Star playoffs got underway Thursday with the 14- and 15-year-olds playing at Garland Street Field in Bangor and the tournament for 13-year-olds at Old Town High School.
In the ages 14-15 division, Brewer shut out Millinocket 16-0 and Bangor West edged Old Town 3-1. On Friday, Millinocket will take on Old Town in a 2 p.m. elimination game and Bangor West will play Brewer at 5 p.m.
In the age 13 division, Old Town thumped Bangor West 24-3 and Brewer nipped Millinocket 7-6. Friday, Millinocket will play Bangor West at 2 p.m. and Brewer plays Old Town at 5 p.m.
In District 3 Little League playoff action, the lone game on the schedule saw Border edge previously unbeaten Loring-Limestone to remain alive and force another game Friday at Border (Monticello).
The winner of Friday’s game will be northern division champ and move on to play the survivors in the central and southern divisions next week.
Senior LL (14-15) Brewer 16, Millinocket 0
At Bangor, Brewer starting pitcher Danny Needham pitched a 1-hitter, struck out 11 and walked only one batter to lead Brewer to the shutout win.
For 1-0 Brewer, Needham singled four times to lead the offense. Greg Crossman hit a single and double while Chris Horr hit a 2-run double.
For 0-1 Millinocket, Jason Howes singled in the first for the only hit.

Bangor West 3, Old Town 1
At Bangor, Owen King hit 2 singles, including a 2-run single in the fifth inning that capped a 3-run rally and gave Bangor West the victory.
For 1-0 Bangor West, Mike Pelkey went the distance, striking out 11, walking 1 and scattering 5 hits. Nick Trzaskos had an RBI single.
For 0-1 Old Town, Andy Trice and Shane McCannell each hit 2 singles.

Senior LL (13) Brewer 7, Millinocket 6
At Old Town, Nate Freeman hit a bases-loaded single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Brewer the victory.
For 1-0 Brewer, Aaron Largay singled three times. Jamie Wilkinson had a triple, single, and 4 RBIs. Freeman scattered 8 hits to get the win and finished with 2 singles and an RBI.
For 0-1 Millinocket, Wade Coffin and John Montgomery each hit an RBI single.

Old Town 24, Bangor West 3
At Old Town, Jeff Kimball led the way for Old Town with 2 doubles and 3 singles in the win over Bangor West.
Cory Ware chipped in with 3 singles for 1-0 Old Town. Kimball notched the win.
For 0-1 Bangor West, Terry Bogan doubled and Jarrod Guimond singled for the only hits.

At Loring Air Force Base, John Peabody’s two-run single capped a five-run uprising for Border in the top of the fifth inning and drove in the eventual winning run.
Adam Carter led Border (3-1) with a double, two singles, and an RBI. He also struck out seven on the mound. George Peaslee doubled and singled. Adam Lynds and Patrick Brewer had RBI singles.
