Kneisel Hall trio to offer concert in Machias

MACHIAS — A trio of musicians from Kneisel Hall will return to Machias for the fourth presentation of the Machias Bay Chamber Concerts at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at the Center Street Congregational Church.

The musicians are Theodore Arm, violin; Barbara Atein Mallow, cello; and Seymour Lipkin, piano. Mallow and Lipkin have been heard in previous years in the summer series. This year they are performing an all-Beethoven program, a cello sonata, a violin sonata and a piano trio.

Arm, the newcomer to the concerts, holds a doctorate in performance from Juilliard where he studied with Joseph Fuchs.

Mallow is a graduate of Yale School of Music and has been active both as a performing artist and teacher.

Lipkin is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music where he is now a faculty member in the piano and chamber music divisions, a post he also holds at Juilliard.

Patrons are urged to attend the informal reception for members of the trio after the concert. Visual art by local artists will be displayed in the vestry by Josephine Clark of Machias, Clark Sieburth of Cutler and Mabel Small of East Machias.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for students. For further information, call 255-3889 or 255-3168.
