PRESQUE ISLE — The Aroostook Medical Center’s second children’s health and safety fair will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at the Northern Maine Fairgrounds. The fair will feature children’s singer-songwriter Rick Charette at 6 p.m. accompanied by his Bubble Gum Band and stage companion Al the Alligator. Admission of $1 will be charged at the gate.
Anticipating a larger crowd this year, fair planners at TAMC chose to move the health fair to the racetrack infield at the fairgrounds. More than 3,000 people attended the 1990 children’s health fair at Mantle Lake Park.
In addition to Charette, the fair will feature tethered hot-air balloon rides from Northern Star Balloon, rides on the TAMC train, appearances by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sparky the Fire Dog, McGruff the Crime Dog, the TAMC Bear, and exhibits on children’s health and safety from a wide variety of exhibitors.
