It’s blueberry season in Maine and with it comes the seasonal blueberry festivals.

On Thursday, Aug. 15, the Rangeley Lakes Blueberry Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rangeley Inn Green on Main Street in Rangeley. The event, sponsored by the Parents, Teachers and Friends group, promises plenty of wild blueberry culinary delights including pies, jam, sauces and cakes, as well as hot dogs and hamburgers. Local groups will sponsor the sale of arts, crafts and wild blueberries. For more information, call 775-2133.

In Machias, the 16th annual Machias Blueberry Festival gets under way at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at the Centre Street Congregational Church, with a New England fish fry, followed by a musical presented by members of the community. Saturday opens with the five-mile Blueberry Run and a Pancake Breakfast, followed by a multicraft fair, quilt raffle, and a baking contest. Activities continue on Sunday.
