Each month, Aroostook County Crime Stoppers, on behalf of law enforcement agencies in the County, reports on a crime that is still under investigation. The following is this month’s crime:
On Monday, May 4, 1986, Babin’s Grocery Outlet in St. Agatha was robbed of $1,000.
According to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, a bank bag containing the money was in the store safe at 8 a.m. Owner Robert Babin removed the bag to make change for a $100 bill for a customer, and left the bag on the office desk.
While Babin was with the customer, someone entered the office and took the money. The money was not discovered missing until three hours later when Babin took the money bag to the bank.
Anyone who has information about this crime should call Aroostook County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-638-TIPS or 1-800-638-8477. Callers are not required to identify themselves.
Anyone who provides information that results in a grand jury indictment for this month’s crime will be eligible for a $1,000 award. Crime Stoppers also will pay for information about other felony crimes.
