BAR MILLS – Former University of Maine quarterback Bob Wilder completed 9 passes for 219 yards and the host Maine Lions rushed for 158 yards en route to a 24-6 victory over the Charlestown Townies here Saturday in semipro football action.
For the 1-3 Lions, Wilder threw a touchdown pass and had one interception. Lance Lavoie ran for 59 yards on 6 carries and Scott Woodward rushed for 65 yards on 11 carries. Rob Hebert caught 4 passes for 159 yards and one touchdown. The Lions held Charlestown to 193 yards total offense – their best defensive effort of the year.
For 0-5 Charlestown, Rob Tammaro ran for a 2-yard touchdown for Charlestown’s only score.
Maine will play Marlboro at Marlboro, Mass., Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
