The University of Maine will be paying Athletic Director Michael Ploszek more than $75,000 a year for the next five years. Several other positions paying from $50,000 to $100,000 are to be filled. What does this do to the morale of the people facing concessions and layoffs?

Two university bargaining units exercised their rights and refused to take concessions. In the face of more bureaucratic hirings, golden handshake buyouts for UM administrators, and cash stipends for administrators who were forced to give up their highly visible UM cars, the unions did the right thing!
