HERMON – Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, New Brunswick, must have felt as though he had won the lottery on Saturday night after a little bit of luck gave him the sportsman feature victory and the $1,000 that went with it at Speedway 95 here.
On the last lap of the special $1,000-to-win card, Don Alexander Jr. of Levant found himself in the lead with Tucker second and Dave McLaughlin of Harrington in third.
Alexander lost his motor, however, allowing Tucker and McLaughlin to make the pass for first and second, respectively. Much of the remainder of the field spun on Alexander’s oil allowing him to coast to a third-place finish.
In the super street Twin 25 feature, Alan Gardner of Whiting used back-to-back second place finishes to win the overall title. Gerald Wescott of Orrington was second while Ken Robinson of East Machias was third.
