Phoenix, a five-member band representing radio station WYOU in Bangor, bested five other competitors in the True Value Hardware/GMC Truck Country Showdown this month.
The group’s original tunes “The Ladies Way” and “Train Ride” won $1,000, and advancement to the regional competition. The world’s largest country music contest and radio promotion, the Showdown will feature more than 1,000 live events this year for audiences totaling more than 4 million fans.
