Drivers beware! On Sept. 1 our 1988 Mustang had the unfortunate luck to break down on Valley Avenue and was left in one of the rest areas until help could be found. Thanks to a person or persons unknown, the windshield, back windows and all but one side window were smashed out with a baseball bat, causing more than $1,900 danage, We were told by the poolice department that a person was assaulted that same night which the Police Department called a “gay bashing”.

It is apparent that someone mistook our automobile as belonging to that person or someone who was with that person. It seems to me time the Bangor Police Department took steps to start patrolling this area a little closer, or making it inaccessible. Who would ever think in Bangor, Maine, your automobile was not safe on the side of the road long enough to get help. Noreen Peters Bangor
