All dowsers aren’t satanists

We need to know more about the effect and influence of the so-called satanic cult activity occurring in our neighborhoods. Walter Griffin’s coverage of Deputy Andrews’ public talk on the subject was acceptable in that sense, but I take issue with one idea that could send us back into the dark ages of narrow-mindedness without some clarification.

Griffin quoted Andrews as asserting that “dowsing for water” is included in the range of cult practices. Just because destructive groups use dowsing as a lure doesn’t mean all dowsers are satanists or that dowsing is evil. All natural and healthy activity can be misused and have dangerous consequences.

People generally use dowsing for life-enhancing ends, such as finding water or lost objects. Psychics are now being consulted by the police because of their skill and ability to uncover “hidden” information. Every day, people are spared from danger or death because they listened to the inner voice or hunch to do, or not do something. If these same people accept the suggestion that their behavior is acceptable but a dowser’s is not, then real social tolerance is just a myth.

Just because some people misuse the natural powers of their minds doesn’t mean those potentials of the mind are bad or evil. Society will always be stuck as long as we remain afraid of our minds and our experience. Brenda L. Callahan Rockland
