ROCKLAND — The SAD 5 Instrumental Music Department will present an assembly for fifth grade students interested in the beginning band program on Monday, Sept. 16, in the district’s four elementary schools.
The assembly will include a live demonstration of band instruments, a discussion on the instruction program, and a question and answer period. Instruction is offered on all band instruments at the elementary level during the school day.
Parents of interested students will have the opportunity to discuss the program and to enroll their children in classes at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Rockland Middle School Cafeteria. A representative from Northern Kingdom Music of Rockport will be present to discuss an instrumental rental program. Students participating in the program must have an instrument in proper working condition whether it is a rented, privately owned, or a borrowed instrument. Anyone wishing to have an instrument checked may bring the instrument to the evening meeting.
Parents wishing additional information may contact Marlene Hall at the Rockland District High School or Arthur Chickering at the Middle School.
