ROCKLAND — Volunteers from the Community Service Project participated in Coastweek ’91, a coastal cleanup project held recently.
The group spent three hours combing the Rockland Breakwater and surrounding beach area. Volunteers found trash such as plastics, glass, rubber, metal, paper, wood and cloth. Plastics were the most prevalent trash items.
Project Coordinator Marsha Figy-Stenstrom said five bags of trash were collected. “Volunteers even took time to carefully sort and separate trash items,” said Figy-Stenstrom.
The Community Service Project is a Rockland-based organization.
