DEXTER – Central of East Corinth’s Shannon Wood rebounded a deflected shot off the right goalpost and shot it past the Dexter goalie five minutes into the second half to give Central a 1-0 schoolgirl field hockey win over Dexter Saturday.
For the 7-1 Central Red Devils, Mylissa Moors made eight saves on 11 shots.
For the 3-3 Tigers, Lindsey Smith saved two of six shots.
Dexter won the JV game 2-0.
PCHS 3, Stearns 0
At Guilford, Jessica Edwards scored a pair of goals to lead Piscataquis Community, 4-2, to the victory.
Daraly Smiley assisted one of the goals. Marni Pulkkinen added a goal, assisted by Tammy McKenney, and goalkeeper Kristen French stopped all four shots she faced.
For Stearns of Millinocket, 2-5, Patty Himes had 14 saves on 20 shots.
PCHS won the JV game 4-0.
Nokomis 1, MCI 0
At Pittsfield, Angie Wilbur’s unassisted goal with 10:41 left in the first half carried Nokomis of Newport to the win.
For the Warriors, Dianne Cabral made 2 saves on 3 shots.
For 1-5 Maine Central Institute, Laura Irish stopped 8 of 9 shots.
Belfast 1, Winslow 0
At Belfast, Sue Robbins’ goal on a penalty stroke with 14:40 left in the first half proved to be the only goal of the game and gave Belfast the win.
Monica Sprague and Staci Smith combined to stop all 10 Winslow shots and notch the joint shutout. The Lions improved to 4-2.
For the 4-3 Black Raiders, Kym Ward made nine saves on 10 shots
Belfast won the JV game 1-0.
