ASHLAND – Diana Belskis scored off an indirect kick from Nancy Theriault to give Ashland a 1-0 schoolgirl soccer victory over previously unbeaten Katahdin here Thursday.

For the 8-2-1 Ashland Hornets, freshman goalie Alicia Michaud made 16 saves on 21 shots for her sixth shutout.

Goalies Erin Cole and Carrie Jo McNally combined for 9 saves on 13 shots for the 8-1-1 Cougars of Sherman Station.

Southern Aroostook 2, Lee 0

At Dyer Brook, Janet Corneil made 21 saves on 30 shots and the host Southern Aroostook defense withstood a Lee rally in the second half to key the win.

For the 2-7-1 Southern Aroostook Warriors, Misty Roy and Jessica Walker each scored a goal. Holly McGraw had an assist.

Heidi Osgood made 9 saves on 13 shots for the 3-4-3 Pandas.

Dexter 7, PVHS 2

At Dexter, Mandy King had a hat trick en route to pacing the undefeated Dexter Tigers to the win over Penobscot Valley of Howland.

For the 7-0 Tigers, Karen Hersey had a goal and two assists. Angie Haven, Billie Jo Braun, and Kris Worster each scored a goal. Rachel Sinclair made two assists. Marcia Harrington and Jessie Hatch made three saves on 10 shots.

Mandy Gage and Amy Bethune each scored a goal for the 3-6 Howlers. Karen Thibodeau had an assist. Julie Delaite and Heidi Wheaton combined for 9 saves on 37 shots.

MDI 4, Sumner 3 (OT)

At Mount Desert, Beth Ashmore drilled a 45-yard indirect kick into the net with 26 seconds left in the first overtime period to give the Trojans the win.

It wasn’t easy for the 3-5-1 hosts, however, as they saw a 3-1 lead evaporate when Sumner of East Sullivan rallied to send it into overtime.

Nellie Fox scored two first-half MDI goals, unassisted, and Jennifer Bender got the third, also unassisted.

Sumner had unassisted scores from Chrissy Evarts, Melissa Nelson and Natalie Mason to send it into extra time.

MDI’s Jessica Phelps had 6 saves on 9 shots in the nets.

For 5-5 Sumner, Susan Lowe posted 12 saves on 21 shots.

Penquis 1, Central 0

At East Corinth, Tina Harris’ goal with 25 minutes left in the game gave the Patriots of Milo the victory. Harris scored unassisted from the 18-yard line.

Goalie Andrea Haley made 12 saves on 17 shots for the 2-5-1 winners.

For 4-5 Central, goalkeeper April Wallace made 9 saves on 13 shots.

King scores hat trick as Tigers stay unbeaten

DEXTER – Mandy King had a hat trick to pace the undefeated Dexter Tigers to a 7-2 schoolgirl soccer win over Penobscot Valley of Howland here Thursday.

Orono 0, Ellsworth 0 (2OT)

At Orono, it was deja vu for the Red Riots and Eagles who battled through two overtimes to their second 0-0 deadlock of the season. It was the fifth 0-0 tie for the Orono girls this fall. They have won 2 and lost 2.

Orono goalkeepers Marsha Therrien and Liza Flemming had a combined 8 saves on 19 shots.

MacKenzie Folsom was in the nets for the 4-2-3 Eagles and made 11 saves on 17 shots.

Hermon 2, GSA 0

At Blue Hill, the Hermon Hawks’ defense limited host George Stevens Academy to six shots and keyed Hermon to the shutout win.

Janis Adams and Tori Adams each scored a goal for the 4-3-2 Janis Adams and Tori Adams each scored a goal for the 4-3-2 Hawks. Marcie Burr and Heidi Pace each had an assist. Michelle Blackmore saved four of six shots.

For the 4-5 Eagles, Polly Dodge and Jennifer Johnson combined to make six saves on 10 shots.

Nokomis 2, Old Town 0

At Newport, Candy Boone converted a penalty kick and Kim Zajac scored unassisted to lift the Warriors past the Indians.

Boone, the goalie, had 12 saves on 12 shots for the 2-5-2 winners.

Goalkeeper Danielle Folsom made 10 saves on 15 shots for the 0-5-2 Indians.

John Bapst 4, Bangor Chr. 0

At Eastern Maine Technical College in Bangor, Jody Gontoski scored two goals to lead the host John Bapst Crusaders to the victory over Bangor Christian.

Kristie Roy had a goal and an assist for the 4-3-2 Crusaders. Katie Roy scored a goal and Tracey Young made three assists. Goalie Tammy Cornett made six saves on eight shots for her first shutout.

For the 1-8 Patriots, Erica Johnson made 24 saves on 33 shots.

Hampden 3, Bangor 2

At Bangor, Marcy Whitcomb’s goal midway through the second half gave Hampden Academy the win over the host Rams.

For the 4-3-1 Broncos, Kate Bishop had a goal and assisted on the game-winner. Carrie Worthley scored the other goal. Becky Huson made seven saves on 13 shots.

Amy Walls had a goal and an assist for the 4-7 Rams. Allyson Port scored a goal and Jessie Sexton assisted. Patti Sawyer saved eight of 15 shots.

Brewer 2, Bucksport 1

At Bucksport, Emily Burrill scored the game-winning goal with 11:44 left in the game to give Brewer its seventh win against just one loss.

Sasha Blood scored the other goal on an Angie Lufkin assist for the Witches. Chandra Blood also had an assist. Jen Poliquin made nine saves on 10 shots.

For the 3-6-1 Bucks, Kelly Bakeman scored an unassisted goal. Sherri Sanna made eight saves on 10 shots.
