NEWPORT
In Newport, Officer Glenn Raymond arrested Alan Nickerson, 26, of Newport on Friday on Route 7. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor and speeding.
Thalia Webb of Ridge Road reported finding her front door ajar Friday afternoon and fresh tire marks in her lawn. She reported $750 worth of jewelry missing. Raymond is investigating.
Also on Friday, two 15-year-old girls were detained at Nokomis Regional High School by police because they were intoxicated. One girl became combative after she tried to flee and was restrained until treated by Newport Rescue and taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield. Charges of illegal possession of alcohol by a minor are pending against the girls.
On Saturday, Sept. 28, Officer Randy Dellaire charged Barnaby Tenney, 21, of Palmyra on Route 7 with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor, failure to provide proof of insurance and speeding.
On Sunday, Sept. 29, Officer Scott Webber charged Lisa Wright, 23, of Harmony, on Route 7 with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. On the Stetson Road, Webber charged Jeffrey McEwen, 26, of Newport, with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
SKOWHEGAN
Incidents handled Friday through Sunday, Sept. 27 through 29, by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department included the following:
Shortly after midnight Friday morning, a New Portland resident complained she was being harassed and she wanted the person removed. A deputy responded, but the person had left when he arrived. The deputy spoke with the complainant and checked the area for her. deputy check on the well-being of a trooper who had responded to an alarm at the school in North New Portland. State Police reported the trooper had not made radio contact with them. A deputy was en route when the trooper signed on the air, reporting he was all set.
At 8 a.m., a Merritt Street resident in Canaan reported the theft of items from her family’s vehicles during the night. The estimated value of the items was $180. A deputy investigated the theft.
In North Anson, a deputy responded to a report of criminal mischief. A Main Street resident reported several youths were throwing mud at her house and vehicle. The incident was investigated by Sgt. Wilford Hines and Deputy Steve Emery.
A Cornville resident complained of theft and criminal mischief. She reported items were stolen from her property and her mailbox was torn down and destroyed overnight.
An Anson resident reported criminal mischief done to his vehicle overnight. He told the deputy that someone put sugar in his gas tank.
In the afternoon, the Skowhegan Communications Center notified the Sheriff’s Department of a car-deer accident on Route 16. The Maine State Warden Service was contacted to handle the report. Five car-deer accidents were reported to the sheriff’s office over the three-day period. Accidents occurred in the towns of North New Portland, Harmony, Cornville and Mercer.
Around 5 p.m., a sheriff’s deputy responded to a car accident at the intersection of Child and Sandy River roads in Norridgewock. The report came through the Skowhegan Communications Center and an ambulance was dispatched to the scene. Information on the extent of injuries was not available. About 8 a.m. Saturday, a four-car accident was reported on the River Road in Norridgewock. Skowhegan Communications Center dispatched an ambulance and a fire truck to the scene. There were only minor injuries reported. A deputy also responded to a two-car accident on Route 150 in Cornville later in the morning. There were no injuries in the second accident. A deputy also handled a single-car accident at The Forks at 1 p.m. Sunday. One person was slightly injured. On Sunday evening, a single-car accident also was reported in Norridgewock. No one was injured.
About 6:30 p.m., a deputy handled a landlord-tenant dispute when the tenant reported she had been locked out of her apartment for not paying the last month’s rent.
At 8 p.m., a deputy reported a series of camp break-ins in the Ripley area. No details were available. The investigation is continuing. Camp break-ins also were reported over the weekend in Brighton.
Shortly after midnight, Saturday morning, deputies responded to a call in Hartland where a Commercial Street resident had requested assistance with a juvenile believed to be involved in some break-ins. The child was taken into protective custody and taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital for evaluation.
In the afternoon, Sgt. Carl Gottardi reported the seizure of several marijuana plants in Bingham. No arrests were reported.
Deputies responded to three complaints of loud parties Saturday night in Hartland and Ripley.
Thefts reported on Sunday included items taken from a Main Street residence in Anson, hubcaps taken in Solon, a safe taken from the Customs Office at St. Aurelie, and a generator at Lake Parlin.
