DOVER-FOXCROFT – The host Foxcroft Academy Ponies spotted Belfast a 2-0 lead at the half before exploding for four second-half goals and posting a 4-2 schoolboy soccer victory here Thursday afternoon.

Scott Turgeon had a goal and an assist to lead the charge for the 6-2 Ponies. Vinnie Riccobono, John Moore, and Leon Green added goals for the winners while Scott Clement added an assist. Jamie Turner stopped 9 of 11 shots.

For Belfast, 3-5-2, John Holmes scored a goal (from Nate Eldridge) and had an assist on a tally by Angus McGilpin. Burn Ferris stopped 21 of FA’s 25 shots on goal.

Penquis 1, Schenck 0

At Milo, Brian Wiles scored the lone goal of the game with 4:03 left in the first half to give the host Penquis Patriots the win over Schenck of East Millinocket.

Mike Nelson was credited for making the quick pass to Wiles in front of the goal for the 5-4 Patriots. Matt Grindle made 7 saves on 10 shots for the shutout.

For the 4-3-2 Wolverines, Chris Hale made seven saves on 20 shots.

Lee 3, Bangor Christian 0

At the Bangor Christian field, Aaron Knowles booted in two unassisted, first-half goals and added a penalty kick in the second half to help the Pandas win.

Goalkeeper Jeremy White made 8 saves on 10 shots for the 6-3-1 winners.

For the 2-6-0 Patriots, goalie Clint Jackson made 18 saves on 21 shots.

Ellsworth 2, GSA 1

At Ellsworth, the host Eagles claimed the “title” in Hancock County boys soccer with a victory over George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill.

Brian Higgins’ Eagles are 6-1-2 and GSA, coached by Higgins’ former Ellsworth player Dan Kane, is now 7-2.

John Magner scored two second-half goals after Bill Griffith had put the GSA Eagles ahead 1-0 in the first half, unassisted.

Magner’s game-winner came with 6:09 to play and was assisted by Den Harmon.

Ellsworth goalie Bobby Perry stopped 3 of the 5 shots on goal and GSA’s Brian Willey had 8 saves on 12 shots.

Mount View 4, Dexter 0

At Thorndike, the Mustangs fired 46 shots on goal, while John Hebert scored two unassisted, to beat the Tigers.

Wally Furrow added a goal off a Shawn Weed corner kick for the 6-1-2 winners and Hebert set up a Mike Shaw score. Goalie Travis Ripley made 1 save on 2 shots.

Netkeeper Shawn Masterston made 23 saves for the 0-8 Tigers.

Ellsworth nips GSA for Hancock `title’

ELLSWORTH – The Ellsworth Eagles claimed the “title” in Hancock County boys soccer with a 2-1 victory over George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill.

Brian Higgins’ host Eagles are 6-1-2 and GSA, coached by Higgins’ former Ellsworth player Dan Kane, is now 7-2.
