A Bangor man pleaded guilty Friday to setting fire to his ex-girlfriend’s Eddington home.

Michael Bailey, 36, will be sentenced for arson after a background report is compiled. He appeared in Penobscot County Superior Court before Justice Jack O. Smith.

He was charged after fire damaged Terry Wells’ home more than 10 months ago while she was at 3rd District Court in Bangor trying to obtain a protection-from-harassment order against him. He could receive up to 40 years in prison on the Class A charge.

Bailey was arrested by Bangor police later in the day, after he allegedly ignited his own car in the parking lot of an office complex where he had an appointment with a counselor.
