Larry Mahoney’s Oct. 3 sports column directing compliments to the Boston Red Sox was fair and reassuring.

Criticism keeps many people interested in all types of activity — sports, politics, and local community issues. Most often criticism seems to be the point, not appreciation for many good accomplishments.

My wife and I were in Toronto for a four-game series of the Red Sox and the Blue Jays. It turned out to be a complete sweep for the Sox.

The stadium at Toronto is excellent. The Sox were great. The team was at near full strength and health. Yes, every game was a sellout.

It would be great to have Billy Swift on a big league team close to his home — the Red Sox! Harry Houston Guilford
