Book recounts return of Gulf War troops at BIA

Lynne Cole of Hampden has been a faithful greeter at the Bangor International Airport of the more than 200 flights of returning troops from the Persian Gulf War. Now she has written a book, “Goodbye Desert Storm; Hello Bangor, Maine,” which recounts the celebrated troop welcomes through the eyes of more than 50 troop greeters, troops, and one flight attendant.

The book contains some color photos and more than 140 black and white photos that capture special moments at the airport.

Advance mail orders for the book, which will be published in time for Christmas giving, may be sent to Lynne Cole Publishing, P.O. Box 444, Hampden 04444. Until Oct. 18 the cost will be $17.95 per book, plus $1.08 for tax, $3 for shipping, totaling $22.03. After Oct. 18 the cost will be $19.95 plus $1.20 for tax, $3 for shipping, totaling $24.15.
