Peter Philbrick’s second-half goal snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted the John Bapst Crusaders to a 2-1 schoolboy soccer victory over the Maine Central Institute Huskies at Union Street field in Bangor Friday.
Jason Jordan assisted on the game-winning goal to help record the upset for the Crusaders, who finished the regular season at 4-8-2. MCI of Pittsfield is now 8-5.
MCI had led 1-0 on a Justin McCrillis’ goal before Ken Champeon of the Crusaders tied it at 1-1 before halftime.
JB goalie Todd Hunter posted 9 saves on 13 shots. MCI’s goalkeeper Jeremy Hamlin had 10 saves on 25 shots.
Bangor Chr. 1, Easton 1 (2OT)
At Easton, the hosts scored first as David Richardson scored midway though the second half on Eric Theriault’s assist.
Bangor Christian tied it five minutes later on Matt Lassell’s unassisted goal.
Goalie Philip Lane for 1-9-1 Easton had 13 saves on 16 shots.
For the 4-8-1 Patriots, Clint Jackson stopped 7 of 17 shots.
The two teams play their mutual season finale Saturday.
Penquis 0, Foxcroft 0 (2OT)
At Milo, neither host Penquis or the Foxcroft Academy Ponies could put the ball through the goalposts as both teams had to settle for a scoreless tie.
For the 7-5-2 Penquis Patriots, Matt Grindle made nine saves on 15 shots.
Jamie Turner made 12 saves on 19 shots for the 10-2-2 Ponies.
