Highlighting Friday’s local schoolboy football action:

Orono (7-0) vs. Old Town (7-0) at Victory Field, Old Town, 7 p.m.: The Indians host the defending Class B state champion Red Riots in rematch of the 1990 LTC Class B title game and a battle of unbeaten archrivals. It will be the first night football game between the two schools. Offensively, Orono relies almost exclusively on the run, while Old Town likes to mix it up more. Speedy TBs Chris Ware and Blaine Demont, and rugged FB Andy Roy give the Indians some punch in the backfield. Senior QB Jason Richards has proven he can throw, while sure-handed SE Chris Taylor provides a reliable, and often spectacular, receiver. The Riots (19 straight wins) are powered by elusive sophomore HB Zac Pelleriti, fleet senior HB Sundance Campbell and hard-hitting junior FB Kent Commeau. Riots QB Sagun Pendse seldom puts the ball up. Senior tackle Pat Murphy and senior LBs Dave Best and Drew Cota key the Orono defense. Old Town counters with junior NG Mike Hines, senior LB Dan Baker and senior SS Ben Foster. Converting on scoring chances may be the key to this game.

Rockland (0-7) vs. Belfast (1-6) at Belfast, 7 p.m.: The winner of this game will very likely lock up a playoff spot. The Lions got into the win column by beating Mount Desert Island last week. The Tigers boast fleet senior halfback Paul Benjamin. Belfast is paced by junior quarterback J.D. Way.

Waterville (5-2) vs. Skowhegan (5-2) at Clark Field, Skowhegan, 7 p.m.: The winner of this contest will take a big step toward clinching a home-field playoff berth in the Pine Tree Conference. Waterville is led by senior QB-FS Jason Jabar, Skowhegan by senior TB-DE Jarrod True.

Oxford Hills of South Paris (3-4) vs. Bangor (1-6) at Cameron Stadium, Bangor, 7 p.m.: The Rams will try to get things turned around against the Vikings. Bangor has shown a good passing attack, led Josh McNeilly and Tom LeClair, but the Rams have not been able to slow opponents down, having allowed 34 points per game.

Madison (5-1) vs. Livermore Falls 5-1 at Livermore Falls, 7 p.m.: The winner of this traditional rivalry should clinch the No. 2 spot in Class C West. The Andies have allowed only 4.5 points per game. The Bulldogs have scored an average of 19.5 ppg.
