TOPSHAM — Duck hunters discovered a decomposed body Monday in the Androscoggin River in an area authorities had searched for a missing 17-year-old Woolwich boy, police said.

The clothes on the male body matched those worn by Morse High School student William Wright when he was last seen Oct. 13, said Detective Sonny Williams of the Topsham Police Department.

Williams declined to speculate if the body was that of the missing teen-ager. The body was sent to the Kennebec Valley Medical Center, where an autopsy was planned for Tuesday.

The body was recovered near Driscoll Island on the Brunswick side of the river. Topsham police were handling the case because Wright was last seen in the town.
