LARRABEE — The Washington County Victims of Child Abuse Laws — VOCAL — and the National Association of State VOCAL Organizations will hold a joint meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Larrabee Baptist Church. The church is located about eight miles south of Machias on Route 92 in Machiasport’s Larrabee district.

VOCAL is recognized and exists in all 50 states as an incorporated non-profit organization. According to Washington County VOCAL spokesman F. David Plummer, the organization acts as “a support group to those people and families … falsely accused of child abuse and neglect, and who have been traumatized by DHS investigations into those allegations and circumstances.”

Among the topics to be discussed is a recently announced, 11-point Department of Human Services plan aimed at improving child protective services in Maine.
