EAST SULLIVAN – The Sumner Tigers ran off a 25-9 second-quarter scoring run en route to a 49-41 schoolboy basketball victory over the Ellsworth Eagles here Saturday.
Bo Stanley and Donnie Dyer combined to score 14 points during the offensive surge.
Sumner trailed 13-5 after the first quarter but, behind the second-quarter efforts of Stanley (eight points) and Dyer (six points), the Tigers (2-3) took a 30-22 edge at halftime.
Dyer, Stanley, and John Merchant scored 12 points each for Sumner.
Ellsworth, 1-4, was led by Scott Kenney’s 12 points and Jim Brichetto’s 11.

Dexter had a 20-3 edge from the foul line.
