MAINE vs. JAMES MADISON

Time, site: Sunday, 2 p.m., at Memorial Gym, Orono

Records: Maine 3-5; James Madison 5-2

Series: First meeting

Key players: Maine – F Heather Briggs (13.5 ppg, 9.0 rpg), F Tracey Frenette (11.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg), G Carrie Goodhue (10.0 ppg, 3.3 apg), G Julie Bradstreet (9.1 ppg, 3.9 spg, 3.6 apg), ; James Madison – F Elnora Jones (16.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg), F Brandy Cruthird (12.6 ppg), G Jackie Freeman (11.0 ppg),; G Emily McCracken, C Chrystal Navarro.

Outlook: Black Bears have won two in a row; Dukes have won four straight. Black Bears feature four seniors, one junior, two sophomores, and six freshmen on their roster; so do the Dukes. JMU’s frontcourt does most of the damage so Maine’s big people must show up ready to play. Dukes have received votes for the Top 25 poll. Maine’s sophomore point guard Chris Strong, who learned last week that her knee injury is a ligament tear, is still not available for action.

HUSSON COLLEGE vs. GEORGIAN COURT COLLEGE

Time, site: Saturday, 7:30 p.m., at Lakewood, N.J.

Records: Husson 8-0; Georgian Court 7-4

Key players: Husson – F Anne Cote (16.8 ppg, 3.9 rpg), C Stephanie Lebel (15.7 ppg, 8.9 rpg), F Michelle Hamlin (10.1 pg, 6.7 rpg), G Darci Collins (9.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg), G Vicki Mazerall (7.5 ppg, 5.8 spg, 3.2 apg); Georgian Court – C Stephanie Martin (11 ppg), C Emma Reeves (16 ppg), G Cristy Iorio (13 ppg), G Tara McCord (8 ppg), G Anette Guagliardo (8 ppg)

Outlook: Game two of Husson’s three-game sweep through New York and New Jersey. It’s another tough one. Georgian Court is ranked eighth in the country and is the two-time defending NAIA District 31 champion. They feature a front line of the 6-0 Reeves and the 6-1 Martin. A common opponent: St. Joseph’s College of Standish. Husson beat SJC 79-78 while St. Joe’s beat Georgian Court 63-53.
