On Dec. 18 the residents of Hermon and Hampden received the best holiday gift imaginable. The Special Waste Siting Board dropped consideration of our site No. 12.

On behalf of a unanimous Town Council our heartfelt thanks go to Dr. Blum and the Siting Board for a courageous and correct decision. We also would like to thank the patriots of the coalition for their tireless efforts to get out the facts. The council also appreciates the presentations by Bob Fenderson, Robert Miller, esq., Rep. Kay Lebowitz, and Rep. Jack Richards. Perhaps if one person was the catalyst though it was Town Manager Kathryn Ruth, who spent tedious hours of her own time in data gathering. We salute her.

Our opposition was truly a community effort in the purest sense. Robert E. Yackobitz Vice-chairman Hermon Town Council
