HOULTON — A Houlton man is organizing a support group for injured workers in the greater Houlton area. The first meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, at Houlton High School.

James McCordic, who suffered a back injury in 1980, said he is organizing the group because he felt that injured workers in the area could benefit from having a local support group. He said that such a group would allow injured workers to talk more freely among themselves and share information about problems and solutions they had encountered as injured workers.

“Too often, injured workers in Maine are being victimized by the very system that was developed to protect Maine’s injured workers,” he said. “Maine’s injured workers have nothing to be ashamed of and I hope that the uniting of injured workers will be beneficial to all.”
