MAINE vs. COLGATE

Time, site: Monday, 7:30 p.m., at the Memorial Gym, Orono.

Records: Maine 7-7, Colgate 0-9.

Series: Maine leads 6-0.

Key players: Maine – C Jess Carpenter (13.9 ppg, 5.8 rpg), F Tracey Frenette (13.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg), F Heather Briggs (13.1 ppg, 8.6 rpg), G Julie Bradstreet (7.6 ppg), G Seana Dionne (3.4 ppg); Colgate – C Shelly Collier (9.7 ppg, 6.4 rpg), F Patty Dandrea (6.1 ppg), G Ellen Murray (5.6 ppg), G Denise DiBacco (4.2 ppg), F Chris Bernstock (4.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg)

Outlook: On paper, a mismatch. With Maine’s rollercoaster season, however, who knows? Frenette needs seven points to reach the 1,000-point career scoring mark. Carpenter has been on a torrid shooting stretch of late hitting 71 percent of her shots (24 of 34) in the last three games. Maine still looking for answer to rebounding woes. Sophomore point guard Chris Strong will miss the game after reinjuring her knee at Vermont on Saturday. Colgate has averaged just over 50 ppg offensively this season.

HUSSON vs. THOMAS

Time, site: Monday, 5:30 p.m., at Thomas College, Waterville

Records: Husson 11-1, Thomas 5-3.

Key players: Husson – C Stephanie Lebel (17.5 ppg), F Anne Cote (15.4 ppg), F Michelle Hamlin (11.0 ppg), G Vicki Mazerall (9.4 ppg), G Darci Collins (8.1 ppg), G Kristi Wildman (6.1 ppg); Thomas – F Stacy Hafford (11.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg), G Kathleen Hogan (13.3 ppg), C Julie Fabian (16.6 ppg, 8.1 rpg), F Moe McInnis (9.3 ppg), F Danielle Dupuis (6.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg)

Outlook: The fifth-ranked NAIA Division II Husson team treks to Waterville for a matchup against a usually tough Thomas team. The Braves are on a roll. In last two games, Husson has limited opponents to 40 points per game. Thomas, which has won four games in a row, needs good game from guards Hogan and Guerin against Husson’s fullcourt pressure.
