Following is a schedule of town meetings in the St. John Valley and positions that will be filled in municipal elections.
GRAND ISLE
Elections at Grand Isle will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 16, at the fire station. The annual town meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the Grand Isle Elementary School gymnasium. Voters will fill two seats on the board of selectmen, one for two years and one for three years; a three-year position on the school board; and the posts of town clerk and town treasurer, both for one year. Nomination petition are due Monday, Feb. 10.
ALLAGASH
Voters at Allagash will hold annual elections at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Allagash Consolidated School gymnasium. Most elected offices are for one year. Open seats are first, second and third selectmen, town clerk, town treasurer, tax collector and a three-year seat on the SAD 10 board of directors. Nomination petitions are due Wednesday, Feb. 12.
FORT KENT
Elections at Fort Kent will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, March 23, at the municipal building. The town meeting will be at 7 p.m. that night at the Fort Kent Community High School gymnasium. Voters will fill two town council seats, both for three years, and SAD 27 seats in wards 3, 4, 5 and 6, all for three years. Nomination petitions are due Tuesday, Feb. 18.
FRENCHVILLE
At Frenchville, elections will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at the Fire Department meeting room. The annual town meeting will be at 7:30 p.m., at the community center. Voters will elect two selectmen and two SAD 33 school directors, all for three years. They also will elect a town clerk and a treasurer-tax collector to one-year terms. Nomination papers are due Tuesday, Feb. 18.
NEW CANADA
Elections at New Canada will be during the annual town meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at the Wallagrass Elementary School gymnasium. Voters will nominate candidates from the floor for a selectman for three years and a constable and treasurer for one year each.
ST. JOHN PLANTATION
St. John Plantation voters will elect first, second and third selectmen, a clerk and a tax collector-treasurer at their annual town meeting at 7 p.m. Friday, March 27, at the town hall. Nominations will be taken from the floor for the five one-year posts.
HAMLIN
Hamlin voters will elect a first selectman-assessor for three years and a treasurer, tax collector and town clerk for one year. Nomination petitions are due on Friday, Feb. 14. Elections will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Roosevelt School. The annual town meeting will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at Roosevelt School.
CYR PLANTATION
At Cyr Plantation, voters will elect a first selectman for three years. They also will fill the following one-year seats: clerk, tax collector, treasurer, health officer, fire warden and road commissioner. Nominations for candidates will be taken from the floor at the annual town meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at the plantation hall.
MADAWASKA
Madawaska elections will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 30, at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The annual town meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at the high school cafeteria. Voters will elect one selectman and one member of the Madawaska School Committee to three year terms. Nomination petitions are due Tuesday, Feb. 11.
ST. FRANCIS
At St. Francis, elections will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 30, at the town office. The annual town meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at St. Francis Elementary School gymnasium. Voters will elect a trustee for the St. Francis Water District for three years. One-years posts that will be filled are: first, second and third selectmen, town clerk, treasurer, excise tax collector, registrar of voters and property tax collector. Nomination papers are due Monday, Feb. 24.
ST. AGATHA
Elections at St. Agatha will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, at the town office. The annual town meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. that night at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Voters will elect a selectman for three years and a SAD 33 director, also for three years. Nomination petitions are due Friday, Feb. 14.
EAGLE LAKE
Eagle Lake voters will fill a three-year seat on the board of selectmen this year. Nomination papers are due Thursday, Feb. 20. The time and date for elections and the annual town meeting have yet to be set.
WALLAGRASS
At Wallagrass, voters will elect a selectman for three years. Nomination petitions are due Tuesday, Feb. 18, but no time or date has been set for elections and the annual town meeting.
WINTERVILLE PLANTATION
Seats that will be filled by Winterville Plantation voters this year are a second selectman for three years and a clerk, treasurer and tax collector for one year. The deadline for nomination petitions and details for elections and the annual town meeting will be set later.
