MILO – Jason Boucher had 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead the Penquis Patriots to a 73-71 schoolboy basketball win over the Penobscot Valley Howlers here Wednesday night.

Troy Chase had 18 points for the 7-4 winners, Mike Pokrywka scored 10 more and Mike Nelson had eight points.

Boucher had eight points in the second period as Penquis outscored Penobscot Valley 22-15 to take a 36-29 halftime lead. Boucher and Chase had six apiece in the third quarter as Penquis extended the lead to 53-42.

Brian Alley’s 21 points paced 5-7 Penobscot Valley. Shon Gilman scored 12 points, Bart Smith had 11 and Jeremy Durost scored eight points.

At Danforth, the East Grand Vikings held on despite a late flurry of 3-pointers by Lubec to post their second win in 13 tries.

The hosts held leads of seven-eight points much of the second half before several late threes cut the final margin.

Jay Frye led the Vikings with 21, Rodger Dow had 16 points and Barrett Hayes 12.

For the 1-12 Hornets, Adam Davis posted 20 points, Donnie Farrell 15, and Carson maker 12.

For the 4-7 Pioneers, Jim Killarney had 21 points and Mark Dugal tossed in 12.
