ORONO — Marion Rich Waterman Meyer Awards for outstanding senior projects during the fall 1991 semester have been presented to three seniors in the University of Maine College of Education.

The three received $25 checks and four other future teachers earning honorable mention were presented certificates to recognize their accomplishments.

Winners were Stacy Jardine of Orrington, for the best research project on “Gender Issues vs. Science Education: Which Prevails in Our Classrooms?” Kimberly Libby of Oakland, the best poster session display for “Integrating the Fine Arts;” and Melanie Walsh of Aurora, the best school practice project for “Integrating Mental Mathematics into the Existing Curricula: Curriculum Supplement.”

Honorable mention winners were Jessica Braun of Stillwater, “Elementary Science Experiments;” Sarah Braun of Standish, “A Case Study: The Affects of Whole Language on Students and Teachers as Seen by the Teachers;” Karen Damuth of West Hartford, “Environmental Conservation: It Starts in the Classroom;” and Rebecca Dwelley of Woodland, poster, “Poetry Lovers.”
