ORONO — The Maine Planetarium will offer programs on views of the night sky for children and families during school vacation, Feb. 16-22.
“Our Sky Family,” at 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Feb. 17, 19 and 21, includes the solar system, winter planets and star patterns for children 4-9.
“More Than Meets the Eye,” at 7 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Feb. 17, 19 and 21, shows the universe between the stars — star clusters, nebulae and distant galaxies, for ages 8 to adult. With clear skies, the audience will visit the observatory.
“Where is Little Bear?” will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, Feb. 18, 20, and 22, when the audience will search for a missing constellation, the sky cub, Jason Gabriel. The show is for those 5-9.
“Symphony of the Spheres,” will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, and 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, presenting Gustav Holst’s 1916 composition. “The Planets,” accompanied by images of stars and planets and special effects. The show is for ages 8 to adult.
