I am writing in response to a small story in the Feb. 11 Bangor Daily News, titled, “Police warn motorists of I-95 `jug handle.’ ”

If the police and the Department of Transportation know about the treacherousness of the roads, they should be out sanding or plowing the road. Isn’t it the DOT’s responsibility to keep the roads as safe as possible at all times?

I realize it is a hard job to keep up all of the time, so if this so-called “jug handle” is so bad, then put up signs far enough ahead of time so the motorists can slow down in time before they get into a sticky situation…. Danny Lary Harmony
