A year ago my son was a door gunner in an attack helicopter fighting in the war over Kuwait. Two weeks later he was treated to the greatest homecoming ever, by the people of Bangor — and in the middle of the night!

I don’t know if you realize what a wonderful thing you did during that time. Cpl. Mark Wheeldon, USMC, had been in Saudi Arabia for six months and was anxious to see his family again. But nothing meant as much to him as your welcome home. Although it is a year late, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Cleo Lute Placerville, Calif.
