UNE has softball sweep vs. Colby

BIDDEFORD – Karen Bailey pitched and batted the Knights of the University of New England to a 10-0 victory over Colby College in the second game following a 3-2 UNE victory over the Mules in the opener of a softball doubleheader here Thursday.

Bailey pitched a six-inning one-hitter, striking out eight, and had an RBI triple and a solo homer which ended the game on the 10-run rule in the sixth. UNE is now 11-5.

Lisa Hilton had a two-run double and Julie Ledoux an RBI double for the Knights in the second game.

Michele Kennedy’s sixth-inning single was the lone hit for the Mules, now 0-3.

In the opener, the Knights scored the game-winning run in the fifth on an infield error. Jen Cullen’s solo homer paced the UNE attack.

For Colby, Karen Whitcomb had a triple.
